Healing our Deepest Wound
by Jef Bartow
Some time within each person's life, we feel a profound sense of isolation or fragmentation. We feel cut off or removed from our spiritual source or life energy. This experience reveals our sense of wounded-ness that we carry around in life, many times unconscious, but none the less there. Astrologically, Chiron represents this deep psychological wound. In a sense, our spiritual journey is about healing this wound, which is healing our connection with God.
Astronomically, Chiron is a body that resides between Saturn and Uranus in our solar system. As we learned in our last article, Saturn represents the limits of our personality and, therefore, Chiron is a gateway between our personality and our higher spiritual nature. The gift of Chiron is that through our healing process it becomes our bridge not only between the lower and higher, but also between the objective and subjective worlds. This inner child will lead us to the fulfillment of our personal destiny and become the power to heal the split between our spiritual and instinctual natures.
The placement of Chiron in our birth chart reveals our individual wounded-ness and where we need healing in order to complete our bridge to the spiritual worlds. By its sign placement, we can learn some of the characteristics of our wounded-ness. Just as much, the house and sign will also indicate where our healing power and personal destiny will be fulfilled.

For example, let's put Chiron in the ninth house in Cancer in the birth chart. This would normally put either Libra or Scorpio on the ascendant. Since the ninth house represents our philosophy for life, our spiritualizing activities, our worldview and our sense of goals or purpose in life, Chiron would indicate that our wounded-ness or crisis will be played out in these areas of our life. Since the ninth house also represents our spirituality, it would indicate a significant disconnection between this person’s personality and their higher spiritual self.
In Cancer, Chiron indicates either a belief or feeling of a lack of supportive, nurturing, caring and mothering from the spiritual world. Isolation and disconnection from a loving universe would naturally come to the surface from time to time. This individual's worldview or sense of purpose in life would consistently involve some pain or fragmentation.

It has been determined that Chiron naturally rules both Virgo and the sixth house. Therefore, the specific qualifications and areas of life where Virgo resides in the birth chart will be important in the healing process. With the sixth house representing our day-to-day routines, service to others and how we make self-adjustments in life, these are natural areas we can focus our healing process. But just as important in our example is where the Moon, as the ruler of the Cancer Chiron, resides in the birth chart.
Let's say in our example that the Moon is placed in the 12th house in Libra. By fulfilling the needs of the Moon here, this person's healing process can be accelerated. The 12th house represents how we overcome our past karma, our service to those less fortunate than us, institutions and how we connect with the divine. This person can make major headway in resolving their wounded-ness by being progressive, initiating, resourceful, active and energetic (Cardinal qualities of Libra) in some form of service to those less fortunate and/or within some institution of work or service. With Libra here, it also means that this orientation and service will help bring balance in retaining a sense of beingness while involved in relationships with shared goals (needs of Libra).
This Libra 12th house focus will directly contribute to resolving the lack of loving and nurturing this person feels in life. As mentioned, Virgo will also contribute to healing. In this example Virgo would be on the 11th house cusp and therefore by developing group relatedness and contributions to groups with shared life goals (goal to 11th house) through adaptable, versatile, responsive and sociable behaviors (mutable qualities of Virgo) will naturally contribute to healing this person's innate wounded-ness.
For myself, I natally have Chiron in Capricorn in the second house with Virgo on the 11th house cusp and Capricorn’s ruler Saturn in Virgo in the 11th house. My wounded-ness has involved feeling a lack of success, respect or recognition (Capricorn characteristics) regarding my talents, abilities and self-worth (second house areas). Growing up, I also felt a sense of isolation and fragmentation regarding my available resources and self-esteem.
In the last article I discussed my Saturn in Virgo in the 11th house and how to become successful I needed to become adaptable, responsive, observant and flexible in group relationships who shared my goals in life. This also went a long way in helping me establish a consistent and deep sense of self-esteem and self-worth for my abilities and talents (second house Chiron wounded-ness).
Transformed, Chiron becomes our conscious pathway leading to fulfillment of our personal destiny and our power to heal the split between our spiritual and instinctual natures. Without waiting for our wounded-ness to be resolved, we can directly move forward in fulfilling Chiron needs where it resides in our birth chart. Expressing the quality characteristics of Chiron’s sign in the house areas of life it resides in will directly foster both healing and building the bridge to our higher spiritual nature.
In our example with Chiron in Cancer in the ninth house, being progressive, resourceful, energetic and dynamic in building a philosophy for life, a worldview and a sense of purpose and goals in life (all ninth house activities) will most powerfully build the bridge into the spiritual worlds and this person’s higher spiritual nature. Our spiritual nature and the spiritual beings in the higher spiritual Planes and Realms have an abundance of love and nurturing support to help resolve this person’s wounded-ness. Building the bridge will automatically provide the spiritual energies that help in healing this deepest wound.
For myself, each time I took a pioneering, courageous, progressive, dynamic and energetic step (Capricorn’s qualities) in utilizing my specific talents, abilities and expertise not only fortified my connection and bridge to my higher spiritual self, it also directly intensified the healing of my self-esteem and self-worth wounded-ness. The results of my conscious efforts over decades including becoming an ordained minister, a business consultant and a spiritual mentor provided me the gift of Chiron in being able to easily access higher spiritual energies, knowledge and support in healing the wounds of others, both individuals and businesses.
Fulfilling the needs of Chiron and healing our deepest wound is one of the most difficult parts of spiritual growth, but the reward and gift it brings defines our personal destiny and contribution to the growth of others.
